Pick a reel tool by the job, not by the word AI. Opus Clip is the name people use to pull clips from a long video. Submagic and Captions are the names people use when the clip exists and they want styled captions. ReelGen writes a marketing line from a voice learned from your site and socials, and you download the files. None of these should be bought to invent a presenter. Confirm the others on their own sites.

## How to read this

Runmeg makes Runmeg. The table says where another tool is the better buy. Prices and features on other products change; this page does not invent a number we have not published ourselves.

## ReelGen's limits are product limits, not marketing copy. Confirm other tools on their own sites.

| | Input | Output | Generates footage? |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Opus Clip | Footage you already recorded | Short clips from that video | Uses your footage |
| Submagic | Footage you already recorded | Captioned, styled reels | Uses your footage |
| Captions | Footage you already recorded | Captioned reels | Uses your footage |
| Runmeg ReelGen | A video you upload | Five captioned, ready-to-post reels | Uses your footage |

## Sort them by what you are holding

If you are holding a long recording and you cannot find the moment, start with a clipper. Opus Clip is the product people name for that. You will still rewrite the line if it comes back as a transcript or a generic hook.

If you are holding a clip that is already the right length, start with a caption tool. Submagic is the product people name for styled captions. Captions sits in the same talking-head conversation. Style does not choose the claim. If the sentence is wrong, animation will not fix it.

If you are holding a homepage and a demo, and the missing piece is a line that sounds like the product, ReelGen uses the voice Runmeg stored and returns files. One run is five reels to review. You post the ones that match the claim. It does not publish them and it does not invent a person to say them.

## What this roundup will not rank

It will not rank them by a score. A score would pretend we ran your footage through every vendor this week. We did not. Use the longer comparisons for CapCut, Opus Clip, and Submagic when you know which job is stuck. Prices for those products are not on this page. They change, and we will not invent one.

## Where Runmeg fits

### Five ready-to-post reels

Upload a video. ReelGen picks moments, captions each one, and gives you five reels you can post. You download them and publish them yourself.

### It sits next to the rest of the marketing

The same product can also make one marketing video in Create, from the same kind of footage, using a memory you can edit. A video-only tool does not.

## Where Runmeg is the wrong tool

### You still publish

ReelGen prepares the reels. It does not post them to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or LinkedIn for you.

## How to pick

- Want five captioned, ready-to-post reels from a video you already have, in a product that also makes one video from a clip: use ReelGen.
- Want a video tool and nothing else: look at Opus Clip, Submagic, or Captions and compare the workflow on their sites.

## FAQ

### What is the best AI reel generator in 2026?

The one whose input matches what you have. A long video with no obvious moment: a clipper such as Opus Clip. A finished clip that needs styled captions: Submagic or Captions. A video plus a product voice, and you will post the file yourself: ReelGen. There is no single winner.

### Is Runmeg an Opus Clip alternative?

For ready-to-post reels from footage you already have, yes, compare them on workflow. Runmeg can also make one marketing video from a clip after you approve a plan. Opus Clip is only a video tool.

### Does ReelGen post to Instagram or TikTok?

No. You download the reels and publish them yourself.
